Conceived in the spirit of Viksit Bharat 2047, the Programme seeks to contribute to the development of a safer, smarter, more resilient, inclusive and sustainable railway ecosystem capable of meeting India’s future mobility and national-development requirements.
Railways are more than a mode of transport; they are a vital national lifeline connecting people, communities, industries, markets, educational institutions and regions across the country. As India’s railway, metro, high-speed rail, freight and multimodal transportation networks continue to expand and modernise, safety must remain the defining principle guiding every stage of planning, design, construction, operation, maintenance and passenger service. The Railway Vision 2047 Safety Transformation Programme therefore places the protection of human life, prevention of accidents and creation of a strong safety culture at the centre of railway transformation.

The Programme promotes security-by-design, controlled access, continuous monitoring, incident-response preparedness, secure data management, regular cybersecurity assessments and professional capacity building.
