OUR VISION AND MISSION
Our Vision
The All India Rail Safety Council (AIRSC) envisions a future in which India’s railway and metro systems are recognised for the highest standards of safety, intelligence, sustainability, resilience, operational excellence and passenger confidence. The Council aspires to contribute to the development of transportation systems where the protection of human life remains the foremost priority and where modern infrastructure, advanced technology, professional competence and responsible governance work together to ensure safer journeys for all.
AIRSC seeks to encourage a progressive railway safety ecosystem supported by proactive risk management, evidence-based decision-making, skilled professionals, intelligent technologies, resilient infrastructure and a deeply embedded culture of prevention. Its long-term aspiration is to promote railway and metro networks that are prepared to respond effectively to operational, technological, environmental and human-factor challenges while continuously improving safety, reliability and service quality.
Aligned with the national aspiration of Viksit Bharat 2047, AIRSC endeavours to support the advancement of safe, smart, sustainable and future-ready mobility through knowledge, research, innovation, education, professional development and institutional cooperation. The Council’s vision extends beyond accident prevention: it seeks to help build a transportation future in which every passenger, employee and stakeholder experiences safety as a shared national value and an essential foundation of progress.
To contribute towards building safe, smart, sustainable, resilient and globally respected railway and metro systems that protect lives, strengthen public confidence and advance the nation’s development.
Our Mission
The mission of the All India Rail Safety Council is to advance railway and metro safety through an integrated framework of knowledge development, professional education, competency enhancement, research, technological innovation, public awareness and collaborative action. AIRSC works to create meaningful platforms through which professionals, institutions, researchers, educators, industry representatives, students and communities can contribute collectively to strengthening transportation safety.
The Council is committed to promoting a preventive and learning-oriented safety culture that recognises risks at an early stage, encourages responsible behaviour, supports continuous improvement and transforms lessons from operational experience into practical safety measures. Through training, certification, technical dialogue, research forums, safety campaigns and professional development programmes, AIRSC seeks to improve the knowledge, skills, judgement and leadership capabilities required for safer railway and metro operations.
AIRSC also seeks to encourage the responsible adoption of emerging technologies, data-driven safety systems, intelligent infrastructure, predictive maintenance, cybersecurity, human-factors engineering and climate-resilient practices. By facilitating cooperation among educational institutions, research organisations, professional bodies, technology companies, manufacturers, infrastructure organisations, safety specialists and relevant stakeholders, the Council aims to bridge knowledge, policy, technology and field-level practice.
Its mission further includes promoting public and passenger awareness so that safety becomes a shared responsibility extending beyond organisations and professionals to every railway and metro user. Through inclusive participation, ethical leadership, innovation and national and international cooperation, AIRSC is dedicated to supporting safer journeys, stronger institutions and a more resilient transportation future.
To protect lives and strengthen railway and metro safety through education, research, professional excellence, technological advancement, public participation and purposeful collaboration.
