Since launching its high-speed railway service, India has made incredible strides to now have the world's fastest and the world’s first railway system with technology.

In India, the railway is recognized as the safest and most convenient method of transportation. Over the past years, India has achieved a dramatic decline in accident rates. The main reasons for the decrease in train accidents were investments in safety, nationwide risk controls, and safety culture. These were influenced by sharing knowledge and experiences for the rail industry.

Just as India has achieved many safety improvements, we want to share our experiences with other countries as well.

‘Ati Vishisht Rail Safety Seva Puraskar’- Award

The All India Rail Safety Council has announced the prestigious Railway Employees Award – ‘Ati Vishisht Rail Safety Seva Puraskar’ (AVRSP), which will be conferred upon 100 exemplary railway employees from various zones, divisions, production units, and railway PSUs across the country. These awards recognize their outstanding contributions to rail safety services.

Additionally, the Council will present 25 Shields to railway units that have demonstrated excellence in promoting best safety practices among employees, further strengthening Indian Railways’ commitment to passenger and staff safety.

In recent years, rail safety—once a significant concern—has seen unprecedented improvements. Indian Railways has accomplished remarkable feats, including the introduction of 34 new Vande Bharat trains to enhance passenger transport and the redevelopment of 1,309 stations under the Amrit Bharat initiative, improving the overall travel experience and reducing transit time.

Highlighting safety advancements, Indian Railways has rapidly deployed cutting-edge technology to enhance overall safety standards. This includes the accelerated implementation of Kavach, an advanced Train Collision Avoidance System, at an unprecedented scale and speed, reinforcing the commitment to a safer railway network.
